Blogs promote the exchange of ideas. I've used this blog for several semesters to get students talking about media industry topics. Articles you read, post and comment about should deal with media programming topics, and this is a wide-open arena—programming developments, traditional and new distribution channels, technology developments, job and career matters, regulation (FCC?), program performance--including the new fall television season. I hope you’re beginning to get the picture.

Ole in with the New
The ipad has changed a 99 year old woman's life. The Portland, Ore native is using the newest ipad to overcome medical woes. After hearing about the ipad, this new invention has allowed the 99 year old to get back to reading and writing. Campbell, had a love for writing poetry, although she never owned a computer. The lightweight pad makes it feasible to enhance her experience with it's brightness levels and text size. Is this ipad something we can see older adults to catch a hold to?

I think there needs to be more info on why this was a good move for her. I think if its a technology that is easy to use and people will not feel intimidated by it will get picked up by the older generation.
The older generation seems to want to "fit in" and by trendy like the grandparents on facebook...it's slow, but its happening. No wonder that IF they can easily understand and maintain new technology that they will want it as much as us. Maybe that's another age group that business manufacturers should target and advertise to. They are the ones struggling the most with arthritis and bad eyes...books may be difficult to get their reading done by. The iPad should would be smart to aim their way...just for extra revenue.
Personally, i know my grandmother would never even give the IPad a shot. Technology can be scary. If they want to target older generations, they are going to have to market it completely different than they market it to businessmen and young adults. In my opinion, simplicity is key in this instance.
