Blogs promote the exchange of ideas. I've used this blog for several semesters to get students talking about media industry topics. Articles you read, post and comment about should deal with media programming topics, and this is a wide-open arena—programming developments, traditional and new distribution channels, technology developments, job and career matters, regulation (FCC?), program performance--including the new fall television season. I hope you’re beginning to get the picture.

Discovery: Oprah will have her OWN show
It's Oprah!!! The Oprah Winfrey Show is said to say Bye Bye Bye, next year as she enters in hosting a program on the soon-to-launch channel OWN. Discovery agreed to a $189 million funding for the network, when Oprah ups a committment to appear on OWN. Detail on the show are still underwraps. However, the new show is an exclusive addition to her next chapter, a primetime travelogue. The new channel that will overtake Discovery Health, will launch in January of 2011 after several pushbacks. After bringing her top-rated syndicated program to a close, it is said Oprah will have much time to devote to the new move. There is no doubt, that stations are on a rampage to find replacements. In the words of several people, GOOD LUCK!!!
